Lollipops and Honeysuckle

Lollipops and Honeysuckle

The honeysuckle symbolizes happiness, joy, and a new love. Watching my parents diligently tend to these plants that grew in my backyard, I learned quickly these creatures are a combination of sweet nectar and vigorous spirit. Strong, healthy, and full of life, this fast-growing vine needs a strong support structure like a trellis onto which it can anchor itself, and it needs special attention from the caretaker to ensure it grows in the right direction. But with guidance from the gardeners and love from God…“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). Dedicated to our first grandchild, who made us Lolli and Pops, our tablescape celebrates the sweet energy that comes from boyhood. Born in June, the birth flower is the honeysuckle and rose.  I cannot think of a more fitting flora description: happiness, joy, love, sweet nectar, vigorous spirit.
